yes it runs on virtual server too.
you should install ubuntu or debian, or any apt-get enabled linux distribution.

to install ehcp on virtual server, same as on normal server:

wget http://www.ehcp.net/ehcp_latest.tgz
tar -zxvf ehcp_latest.tgz
cd ehcp
./install.sh
#

using on a virtual server is same,
navigate to http://serverip
username: admin
default pass: 1234

there are persons who test or use ehcp on virtual server.
